PIANO AND KEYBOARD LESSONS
Lessons of 30 minutes, 45 minutes and 1 hour duration are available. 30 minute lessons are best suited to younger beginners. Longer lessons are normally required from around Grade 2, when formal theory starts to be introduced.
THEORY LESSONS
Theory lessons can be booked independently from practical lessons or can be dovetailed to follow a practical lesson. In order to take practical exams beyond Grade 5 a candidate must also hold Grade 5 music theory.

Examinations & Results
PIANO & KEYBOARD
Exam passes, both practical and theoretical, can provide valuable milestones for many pupils and the practice, where appropriate, uses the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations service for piano and theory and the London College of Music examinations service for keyboard exams. However, pupils are entered for examinations only if they wish to be and then only if they are certain to achieve success.
MUSIC THEORY
Theory is a very important part of a musical training. It is the ‘written’ side of music and involves learning the ‘whys and wherefores’ of how music is written. It’s importance should never be under-estimated and it is worth noting that no-one may progress beyond grade 5 practical standard with the ABRSM without first gaining a grade 5 theory pass.
